I had always wondered how ancient civilizations build their colosseums, etc. On a trip to the ruins of Ephesus, I stumbled across this amazing revelation: they had cranes! Duh, history makes so much more sense now. It's really quite marvelous to see how elegantly they designed a crane to build their city, in fact it was built so well that the crane in Ephesus is still standing today and in much better condition than the piles of rocks it has outlived. Would highly recommend seeing, history is amazing ❤️

WOW! Arrived early before the tour groups so had the place to ourselves. Sat here for ages later in the day just imagining life when this building was at its best. Great places to people watch

Must see location, amazing place. The Library of Celsus is the most famous part of the ruins of Ephesus in Turkey. It was built between 110 and 135 AD by Gaius Julius Aquila in honor of his father, Celsus Polemaeanus. Unfortunately his father died before the Celsus Library was completed, and his tomb was placed in a special room beneath the ground level of the building. A statue of Athena was placed at the entrance to the tomb because Athena was the goddess of wisdom.

Favourite part of the Ephesus tour! The Library of Celsus is a spectacular structure! Probably the best preserved part of the ruins at Ephesus! You can spend a good few mins in awe of this magnificent structure.

A must visit place! The Ephesus ancient city is full of rich history. Suggest to get the audio guide or a walking tour guide with you to explain the history behind it. Expect to spend about 1.5hrs here. There are also alot of cats here that are very friendly. Infront of the library there are photographers who will take your photo and print it out for 40TYL

Amazing historical place that yet is available for many generations to witness how it was created then. Tour guide told a story “possible that the library was a meeting point to take the curious to another place underground near the library structure” Marble stones stay cool even when receiving direct sunlight. Definitely a must see when in the area.
