Babası MİRZA efendi, anası NURİYE hanımdı. Bir gece rüyasında Hz.Muhammed'i görür. O'ndan ilim talep eder "ümmetinden sual sormamak şartı ile sana ilm-i Kur'anın verecektir" müjdesini alır.Bazı gerçekler aklına takılır, okumayı öğrenmeyi daha çok ister. Bitlis'e gider ve Şeyh Emin efendi medresesinde dersler almaya başlar.SİİRT'de Molla Fethullah efendi medresesine devam eder. Van valisinin teşvikiyle 32 yaşında Van'dan İstanbul'a gelir. Zaman'ın Padişahı Sultan Abdülhamid'e dilekçe vererek Vilayeti Şarkiye'de (VAN'da) Medrese ve İslam Üniversitesi açılması ister. Sirkeci'de Şekerci Hanında kalır., Hanın kapısına "Burada her türlü soruya cevap verilir" diye pankart asar. İstanbul bilginlerine meydan okur. Sakalsız, sarıksız kendine özgü bir kıyafettedir. Konuşmalarında, "İslam'da istidap yoktur" dediği için Sultana hakaretten Divan-ı Harbe verilir. İleri geri konuşmaları nedeniyle 2 Musevi, 1 Ermeni, 1 Türk doktorun verdiği raporla deli diye Topbaşı Tımarhanesine konur. Daha sonra verilen başka bir raporla çıkarılır. Fakat bir süre ceza evinde kalır. EMİRDAĞ'da çok şiddetli bir zatürreye tutulur. Kendisini biraz iyi hissedince ISPARTA-KONYA-ADANA- GAZİANTEP yolu ile 21 Mart 1960 günü saat 11:00 'de Şanlıurfa'ya varır. Kendisini çok büyük bir kalabalık topluluğu karşılar. Şanlıurfa'da İpek Palas oteline yerleşir. Fakat uzun yolculuk sonucu hastalığı nükseder. Otele Emniyet Müdürlüğü'nden bir ekip gelir, Said NURSİ'ye "Derhal bu şehri terk edin" der. O'da "Çok hastayım. Ben şimdi hayatımın son dakikalarını geçiriyorum, sizin vazifeniz bana su bulup getirmektir. Gideceğimi amirlerinize söyleyin" der. 23 Mart 1960'da, Ramazanın 25 inci günü saat 03:00 sularında fani aleme veda (vefat) eder. Bediüzamman Said Nursi's Life 1873 He was born in the village of NURS of İSPİRİT district of Hizan city of Bitlis. His mother was MIRZA master and his mother was NURYA. Your task is to get me some water. Tell your superiors I'm going." On March 23, 1960, on the 25th of Ramadan, at 03:00 am, he died (farewell) to the mortal world.

Tuvaletler, şadırvan mezbelelik içinde. Camide birileri kalıyor gibiydi. Her köşesinde battaniye ve yastıklar... Bir şeyi düşünüp yapmak hatıraları gözetmek güzel, yaptığınız bu güzellikleri koruyabilmek çok daha güzel. What a beautiful mosque built on the foot of Mount Erek.
