★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don’t understand the bad reviews because “the church was closed”. First of all the church being closed is government mandated, the church doesn’t regulate that. It doesn’t have a resident priest either so it’s very limited when they can be opened. The church has been in multiple attacks so there are cops regulating entry to church.
The old lady that’s there doesn’t speak Turkish fully so she isn’t being rude. She just doesn’t understand you.
Phones are never allowed in churches. Pictures are permitted. You are never allowed to speak in church, especially loudly.
The review about “nothing pretty to look at”. This is a place of worship not a museum. The church isn’t built to look pretty for anyone. This church isn’t known for its artsy look but for its history. If you want a museum, visit somewhere else. People actually pray here and you need to respect it.
