Bu kelimenin aslının ise ‘ı-v-d olduğu, tekrar dönmek anlamını ta?ıdı?ı bilinmekte ve bu durum İbni’-l A’râbi ve Zebîdî gibi lügatçiler tarafından; “çünkü o her yıl yeni bir sevinçle döner” ?eklinde yorumlanarak mevsimlerin dönmesine ba?lanmaktadır. Îd kelimesi ise Kur’an-ı Kerim’de bir defa zikredilmekte (1), hadis-i ?eriflerde ise çokça kullanılmaktadır.
