Kışlar soğuk ve kar yağışlı, yazlar ise kuraktır. Bölgede doğal bitki örtüsü üst florasını karaçam, sarıçam, ardıç, meşe, ladin ve köknar gibi orman ağaçları ile ahlat, kızılcık gibi meyve ağaçları teşkil eder. Alt florada ise hububat, yemlik ve yemeklik baklagiller ile deve dikeni, yumak, ayrık otu gibi bitkiler bulunur. Son 10 yıl içerisinde günlük en yüksek yağış miktarı 50 mm'dir. Yıllık yağış ortalaması yeterli seviye de görülmesine karşın, yağışın büyük bölümünün kış aylarında düşmesi, yaz ayların da ise yok denecek kadar az olması tarımsal sulamayı gerekli kılmaktadır. In the lower flora, there are cereals, fodder and edible legumes, and plants such as thistles, balls, and couch grass. The highest daily rainfall in the last 10 years is 50 mm. Although the annual precipitation average is at a sufficient level, the fact that most of the precipitation falls in the winter months and is negligible in the summer months necessitates agricultural irrigation. The maximum number of frost days in the district is 137, and snow remains on the ground for three months of the year on average. It is one of the centers with the lowest annual average temperature in Turkey. The temperature drops to -35 degrees in winter
