Ayastafanos Kilisesi

Former Greek Orthodox Church closed during the day but open during the Chamber Music Competition and Classical Music Festival which both take place in July every year. Info on the town hall website (in Turkish) and on site.

There is a half-round apse on the east wall of the building. The illumination of the apse is made by two windows at the bottom, at the second floor at the top and a round window at the top. The window edges are surrounded by white marble blocks. Plaster decorations were cast inside. Within the scope of the Church Lakes Region Research Project, the restoration was covered, then the roof covering was renewed, the outer walls were made and the interior wooden parts were renewed. (The church was maintenance-free and the doors were generally closed.

I love all historical places, this place is also beautiful, but as far as I can see, this building, which was renovated in 1998, remains.

Ayastefanos Church, one of the 19th century works, was a place of worship that Greek-origin Christians came to visit before going to Jerusalem in ancient times. It is known that rituals were held in the church at that time. The church was restored by the Municipality of Eğirdir in 1993, but restoration seems essential, I could not see inside.
