Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine is one of the oldest faculties of Atatürk University. The Faculty was established in 1962. For the education of Basic Medical Sciences, the first students of the faculty were sent to Hacettepe University in 1964. The yearly student quota is 211. The language of instruction is Turkish and English. In 2014, there are 99 professors, 47 associate professors and 85 assistant professors in the department. Since October 26, 1970, more than 4500 physicians have graduated from the faculty. A total of 101 students from the faculty from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine of Erzincan University and a total of 101 students from the faculty of medicine have been studying since 2003-2004. In 2014-2015 academic year, a total of 1453 students, 1149 in undergraduate and 307 in medicine, are studying at the faculty. In addition, there are 9 students who are masters and PhD. The main disciplines of the faculty are Basic, Internal and Surgical Medical Sciences. The duration of the education is 6 years in the Turkish section, 7 years in the English Department (3 years pre-clinical, 2 years clinical and 1 year intern). Faculty Hospital: Faculty, Research Hospital and Application Center has a total of 1450 bed capacity hospital. The hospital's emergency service is available 24 hours a day. Students are admitted to the faculty through the National Student Selection and Placement Exam (ÖSS). Upon successful completion of all compulsory theoretical and practical exams in the education plan, the students receive the title of Medical Doctor.
