One of the most impressive place I have ever visited in my life. Located along Akhurian river which is Turkish - Armenian border, Ani is medieval great city of Armenians dating back 5th century. 35 mins away from Kars city center and the road is in great condition. Public transportation is a bit tricky but very convenient if you are driving. Ani is in UNESCO World Heritage List. It is like a hidden gem on border. Most structures are worn due to lack of restoration, natural disasters and possibly climate but they still stand still like alive. St Gregory of Abumarents, Tigran Honents, Minuchir and the cathedral are the most popular structures. Do not forget to climb the citadel. I highly recommend to visit in spring.

Such an amazing museum İ ever visited, huge, so many things to see, every building has got a story, every stone on the ground has got a memory, you are walking and thinking about how many people walked there children was running there from the past, I need one day to visit every where in there. 1 and half hour wasn't enough for me. I would like to come back there again one day inşallah, I recommended

One of the best, largest and historically significant archeological sites in Turkey that is also part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. The city was situated on top of the hill near the Akhurian River and was covered with long, thick, tall and two-layered stone walls so that it is well-protected against enemy attacks. However, it has passed into different kingdoms/civilizations because it is on the historical Silk Road route, which made the city economically crucial place to seize. Therefore, the ancient city hosts ruins and attractions from many distinct civilizations from Ancient Urartu Kingdom to Seljuk Empire. Unfortunately it's heartbreaking to see that most buildings have been irreversibly damaged due to natural disasters, looting and being out of favor as the Silk Road lost its importance. It's also quite annoying to see that people do not care about the site and just throw their empty water bottles and used face masks everywhere. We collected some of them to put the trash bins as much as we can but the trash bins were also full of garbages. It seems it has not been cleaning out for a while! Somebody should do something about it!

Amazing ruins, fascinating place to see buildings from 11th century. It's like complex so you can walk a lot. It cost 22TL for entry per person.
