Amasya Bayezid II Complex

The same author states that the construction of the mosque and complex, which was initiated as a tribute to the sultanate, was transferred to Şehzade Ahmed by Bayezid. According to Hüsameddin Bey's determination, this information is also repeated in the later historians Âlî's Künhü'l-ahbâr and Nişancızâde Mehmed's Mir'âtü'l-kâinât. The foundation charter of the mosque and its complex was written in the middle of 901 Cemâziyelevveli (January 1496) (VGMA, Defter, nr. 2113, p. 179). Mosque The mosque, which is one of the outstanding examples of side-spaced or zaviye mosque architecture, consists of two square spaces separated by a large arch in the middle, and side spaces with three domes on the east and west sides. The middle space is covered by two large domes with 16 windows on their octagonal drums. The inside of the dome and the top of the window arches are decorated with rich hand-drawn works. Wooden window sashes are good examples of the 15th century wooden kündekari technique. The narthex in the north is covered with five domes supported by five pointed arches. The window tops in the narthex are decorated with blue and white tile panels. Of the two minarets with a single balcony rising at both ends of this place, the body of the one in the east is vertically grooved, and the body of the one in the west is decorated with zigzag stone. The three-line marble inscription on the magnificent crown gate of the mosque with muqarnas decoration is the work of Calligrapher Ali bin Mezid. The 12-sided fountain located in the middle of the courtyard is covered with a 12-sided pointed pyramid roof supported by 12 columns.
