Ali Pasha Mosque has a very special place in me. When we came to Tokat in 2006 as a guest of the Governor of Tokat and the Mayor of Almus about the project of bringing a motorboat to my old friend Şemsettin Gündoğdu brain Almus dam lake, we performed our first prayers in this mosque. In addition, when his father passed away in 2011, his prayer was performed in this mosque. Unfortunately, Mr. Şemsettin lost at the end of November 2017. May Allah have mercy on all of them .. May their spaces be heaven .. The 447-year-old mosque, which was built by Ali Pasha during the reign of Selim II, one of the Ottoman sultans, and bears his name, was reopened after the completion of 14-month restoration work. The mosque, which was built by Ali Pasha in 1572 during the Ottoman Empire, was restored by Tokat Regional Directorate of Foundations 14 months ago. The old lead-coated domes of the mosque, which was closed to worship, were restored, especially on the interior and exterior. The interior and exterior walls of the mosque, which had been dirty for many years, were cleaned with micro sandblasting method. In addition, the interior and exterior lighting system of the mosque was renewed within the scope of restoration works, while maintenance was carried out in the historical fountain after the restoration of the mosque. During the restoration work, 16th century hand-carved ornaments on wood were unearthed from the wooden loft covered with 5 layers of oil paint. In addition, in the restoration work carried out in the mahfil section designed for women to pray, pencil-engraved patterns were revealed under the wooden balustrades covered with oil paint.

It was built by Ali Pasha, son-in-law of Bayezid, the son of Suleiman the Magnificent, between 1566 and 1572. His tomb is located in the garden of the mosque.
