★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice to visit for the bird eye view of Alanya.
You can go up with the car, the nearest parking is very closed to the entrance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Alanya Castle dominates the entire area, standing high on a huge cape (better say peninsula) dividing the city into two parts.
It dates back to 13 c when it was built by the conquering Seljuks on the existing Roman and Byzantine fortification remnants. During the Ottomans the Castle declined in military importance and throughout the 19c many private villas and homes were built on the site which are still there.
The top fortification is a museum with remaining buildings of Romans, Byzantines and Turks. To visit it there's an entrance fee, but there's also a free part by the Mosque and cable car. The Castle offers magnificent views of the city beneath.
We went there by our rented car (big parking lot in front, symbolic fee), but you can also reach it via cable car. Count on around 2 hours for a proper visit

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took the tram up to the castle and walked around in the morning. The view from the tram was beautiful as you can see cleopatra's beach and the beautiful clear Mediterranean Sea. The walk up is nice the stairs are easy and the view amazing. lots of souvenir shops, restaurants, a mosque as well. There is a cost to visit the inner castle of 30TL the castle sits at the top at and is 250 meters above sea level. There are bathrooms located up there as well. Worth the visit, i recommend taking the tram for the view, the cost was 60 TL return trip
The castle is open every day from 09:00 to 19:30 in the spring and summer, and from 08:30 to 17:00 in the autumn and winter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a wonderful view from the top. Beautiful old infrastructure which I really love. But there is nothing special when you walk around on the top except for the beautiful view. So enjoy the view and dont forget to bring your drone?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For ease of getting to the castle it is best to take the cable car to near the top. Remember however that when you are off the cable car you are.not near to the main part of the castle and there are still lots of steps to climb higher. There are shops and cafes so in the heat plenty of cool off stops. There are also souvenir shops including market stalls selling cotton and lace goods, like tablecloths. Plenty of information around the castle to explain what is what. Great views from the top of Alanya.
