Yapının kitabesi olmamakla birlikte yazılı kaynaklara göre 18. yüzyılda inşa edildiği ileri sürülmektedir. Alt kısma atlarını bağlayıp, üst kısımdaki odalarda yatarmış yolcular o dönemde. Şimdi ise renovasyon yapılarak hem tarihi dokusu korunmuş, hem de tam bir kültür merkezi haline getirilmiş. Tezhip sanatı, kazaziye, telkari, makrome, ahsap boyama, hat, ebru gibi pek çok sanat hem öğretiliyor hem de ustalar tarafından yapılıyor ve dükkanlarda satılıyor. Girdiğinizde odadan odaya geçerek her sanat eserini hayranlıkla izlerken zamanın nasıl geçtiğini fark edemiyorsunuz. Bakırcılar çarşısının hemen ara sokağında olan mekanı kolay göremeyebilirsiniz, esnafa sorarsanız hemen yardımcı oluyorlar. Alacahan is a historical caravanserai where Turkish crafts are both performed and taught. Passengers tying their horses to the lower part and laying in the rooms at the top. Now, the renovation of the historical texture, as well as a complete cultural center has been made. The art of illumination, casualty, filigree, macrame, wood painting, calligraphy, marbling are both taught and made by craftsmen and sold in shops. When you enter, you cannot see how time passes while you watch each artwork with admiration from room to room. You may not easily see the place which is in the middle street of Bakırcılar bazaar and if you ask the shopkeepers, they help you immediately.

I like it very much however it has been conquered for both local people and tourists. This situation suprised me , why is it not ne known, it is amazing , I first time visited there when I was 40 and local people.
