I have just returned from a holiday in Gumbet where I had the misfortune to develop a very large abcess which was extremely painful. As I was due to return home the next day the hotel Doctor was doubtful whether I would be allowed to fly, so arranged for me to be transferred to this magnificent hospital. The actual building is superb and wonderfully clean. The moment I arrived and was examined I was placed on a drip and and given painkillers, no waiting at all (take note NHS). A consultant came to examine me within minutes and decided, to ensure I could travel the following day, I would need to remain in the hospital overnight. He offered me the alternative to actually carry out surgery the same day! I opted for the first choice, and was immediately taken to my own room, and treatment began. My room was huge with an on suite bathroom with walk in shower, balcony and TV (82 channels, several English) I was given constant treatment for the next 18 hours when the surgeon returned and examined me, then true to his word he gave me some medication to take with me, a comprehensive printed report for my doctor at home, and informed me there was a car at the main entrance to return me to the hotel! Superb, cannot thank this hospital enough.

Attacked by an uncontrolled by the woman who was holding the leash of a huge bulldog boxer dog, fallen onto the rocks behind me resulting 1+3+7cm cuts in my scalp and slip-disc in my neck and bruises in my body, on a day before bayram in summer, crowded emergency desk. After tomography and stapled my wounds They could not find 1 piece of appropriate whole wound band to cover the wounds. They had to search the whole hospital to bring small type to make it out of patches. We were moved into a patient's room with no hospitality. A plastic cup of water took 15 minutes to arrive. Scared of the negligence, we left for home. Cost was high. Thank God pharmacies were near by. It was clean and tidy. But poor in the simplest necessities, like wound bands, a bottle of water with cups to drink from on a summer's day after a serious fall. Hospitals should not impress with their luxury looks but their needed health services being efficient and effective.

Our experience at the Acibadem hospital in Bodrum was awful!!!! My husband fell and badly injured his leg whilst we were on holiday. At our initial visit to A&E they failed to pick up that he had a very serious fracture to his tibia because they didn’t feel an X-ray was necessary. We returned several days later because of his extreme pain and bleeding and they finally diagnosed the fracture. They initially wanted to charge 18,000 euros for an operation to fix it and with negotiations reduced this to 9000 euros! They were very pushy and money orientated rather than focusing on the patients welfare. At no point did they explain the rapidly mounting charges and put great pressure on us to pay cash directly to them, despite us being in a stressed and vulnerable state. They were incredibly negative about our insurance company, who turned out to be brilliant in supporting us and eventually repatriating us. They also criticised other hospitals. Our insurance company wouldn’t agree to using a private hospital, so we moved my husband to the large state university hospital in Mugla, which was SO much better in care and attention. They focused completely on his welfare, not on the cost and profit. I am very, very glad we moved to a different hospital and would NOT recommend Acibadem to anyone!!!

The doctor advised my mum to have a ct scan to see the shadow on her lung more clearly. I explained that she had one at the Acibadem and that we would go and ask for the results that day. Which we did. I was so upset my mum had been suffering for 2 weeks and it took a simple xray to show the cause of her pain but the Acibadem wanted to do all the most expensive things first. I have made a complaint and had a meeting with the medical director of the Acibadem. He told me in his opinion his staff had done everything correctly. I disagree and I feel very upset, disappointed and angry by his total disregard of my mum’s wellbeing. After my meeting he called me to offer my mum a 20 percent refund of her charges, still he refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing on his hospital’s part. I’m not saying medical negligence but surely common sense and practicality are taught in medical school.....Please also note - the response to all negative reviews are generic (the same) there will be no contact or action taken....if you value your health and well being then please chose a hospital that has the same values and not just the opportunity to make as much money as they can from your position. The Devlet hospital achieved that and performed exceptionally showing the highest level of professionalism towards an old lady at a fraction of the cost.

God help me that I never need to go to this hospital! My houseguest was very worried for his health. He is 79 and suffered from some ominous kidney pain amongst other things. Unfortunately I was not home to come with him. So he went there alone. Enter the so-called helper, an English lady, whose job description I am not sure about. He was quoted 1200 TL for a consultancy and agreed. During the consult he was upsold on some other tests, but didn't understand it was added to the bill. By the time they were done with my friend, he was presented with a bill of over 10,000 TL. He left without a proper diagnosis, without an itemized bill, without any of the test result. Just this pitiful receipt. You get better documents shopping for a carton of milk at a supermarket!. What he got was a promise that they'd email him. Over 2 weeks later we went back to get at least a translation of the test results. Not much to ask for a "service" of over 800 USD! This time I came with him. The girls at the service desk did their best to help, to them once again a thank you. But then out came Ms Rebecca. Her bedside manners soured as soon as the understood why we were there. Her insincere helpfulness turned to rude answers, and then she excused herself that she would go and retrieve the lab results (that we wanted in English, and were somewhere "downstairs") but never returned. When we pressed again to see her, we were informed she had gone a meeting. Such is the customer care at this place. Unless you're bleeding to death, I'd recommend drive on and find another health provider. If I could give 0 stars, I would.
